The Allotment Sites

Since the pandemic, there is now a long waiting list for an allotment in Didcot. If you are thinking about rent an allotment don't hesitate to apply now to establish your place in the pecking order as there is no guarantee that the demand will fall in the future.  Visit the Didcot Town Council website for further information, including an application form and details of annual rental fees and allotment rules.

You can now apply for either full (5 pole) or half (2.5 pole) to suit your circumstances. The rents are determined a year in advance by the council and they always change in the same direction!  This is due every October, which is separate from the DAS membership.  

There are five allotment sites in Didcot, marked out on the map above.  (Figures from Didcot Town Council):

• B - Broadway (86 plots on 2.8 acres)
  • Right in the middle of town it is the oldest of the sites having celebrated its centenary in 2016.
• C - Cockroft Road (113 plots on 4.53 acres)
  • Located near Didcot Wave Leisure Centre, behind the shops on Cockcroft Road, this site is ideally located to pick up a local paper and a sweet treat on your way to the allotments!
• M - Mereland Road (69 plots on 2.9 acres)
  • Tucked away behind Mereland Road, this allotment site is a quiet haven.
• N - New Road (111 plots, and another 30 for the mental health charity Restore, on 6.26 acres)
  • On the edge of town, New Road is the largest site and is also home to the Restore Centre and the Sustainable Didcot Community Allotment.
• W - Wantage Road (34 plots on 1.52 acres)
  • The smallest of all the 5 sites, Wantage Road is a real hidden gem that is lovely and quiet.
